German Cuisine– Oktoberfest Week

Since Oktoberfest is happening this week in Germany– I figured I would share a virtual tour of German food 🙂 Click here to see my last year post on Oktoberfest, to learn more about it.

Lets start with a Prost of two (zwei) steins…BEER1

Currywurst (weiners with ketchup mixed with curry) very delicious street food located primarily all over Berlin.CURRYWURST

Decorated Ginger cookies, unfortunately they do not taste as good as they look. Stale and hard, like cardboard, blech!

In Hofbrauhaus, the menu…HOFBRAU1

Very popular German licorice candy– Katjes, in various shapes such as piggies, lips, soda pop, etc…KATJE CANDY

Of course Pretzels, were warm and fresh…PRETZEL

These one can get with cream cheese and fresh chives spread inside. So yum! (with beer in the train.)PRETZEL2

Famous German chocolate– Ritter. Very good chocolate.RITTERCHOC1 RITTERCHOC2

Rocket (arugula) pizza in Berlin and very cheap 2 Euros for all that!ROCKET PIZZA

And Spaetzle Noodles, I bought at one of the Oktoberfests last year.SPAETZLE

And I made Cheese Spaetzle with it!SPAETZLE2

Oh and a traditional Bavarian breakfast Weisswurst (white sausage with mustard). It is brought in a bowl of hot water and then the sausages need to be pulled out of the casing with the help of a fork. Very good!WEISSWURST
