Flashback Friday: St. Augustine, Florida

While visiting friends from college whom were from the Daytona Beach area, I begged them if we could visit St. Augustine. Luckily they obliged. I only visited that one time and had always wanted to visit and this was the perfect opportunity. It was definitely preferred over Daytona Beach, important US History (being it was the first settled city in the USA) apparently had more meaning to me than a popular kitschy Spring Break party spot. 😛

St. Augustine is absolutely beautiful with a Colonial and European feel to it. It was discovered in 1514 by Juan Ponce de Leon and the Fountain of Youth Park is located in the vicinity. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to visit the Fountain of Youth Park as time was limited but I did get to walk around the city. The places visited and pictured below are The Oldest Schoolhouse in the USA; Milltop Tavern; Flagler College (the beautiful terracotta roofed structure); St. George’s Street; and the Fort.
