Sweden is known as a rather cosmopolitan culture of the Scandinavian countries. A large size of land with only about 9 million people, there is a variety of flatland, and rolling hills the more north one goes. The largest cities are Stockholm the capital, Gothenburg and Malmö. Swedish people are known for their friendliness in general. Another childhood favorite author, Astrid Lindgren of Pippi Longstocking is from Sweden.
With a number of cold temperatures and dark months, Swedes enjoy their summers to the fullest singing “Helan går” as downing their schnapps. Midsommerdag is primarily a Swedish custom celebrated in the first day of summer in June. In traditional dress including females wearing their fresh flower crowns with dancing and more singing around the maypole.
